“Modernizing Undergraduate Renewable Energy Education: EU Experience
for Jordan”, MUREE, is TEMPUS project number
530332-TEMPUS-1-2012-1-JO-TEMPUS-JPCR, approved by the European
Commission under grant agreement number 2012-3324/001-001.
The wider objective of MUREE is to develop, integrate, accredit and
evaluate a quality bachelor degree programme in Renewable Energy in
Jordan with an appropriate laboratory component jointly taught by
universities in Jordan, in accordance with the Bologna process. This
would ensure that universities in Jordan are placed in a position to
offer quality education compatible with European standards and meets
socio-economic needs of the emerging knowledge-based society by
strengthening renewable energy teaching in order to graduate
professional leaders who can meet market needs of the country. Its
direct aim is to enhance the capacity and enable Jordanian partner
universities to develop sustainable renewable energy bachelor
programmes with state-of-of-the-art educational technologies. MUREE
will thus contribute to a sustainable outcome that will promote
curriculum reform in engineering education and leave a longer-term
legacy for Jordanian universities.
Activities, Progress and Outcomes
Methodology Implementation of RE Education in Jordan | | A scoping and needs analysis is currently being conducted to investigate the current status quo of renewable energy in Jordan. The investigation has commenced with desk research, survey on paper and online formats, and interviews with appropriate stakeholders, focusing on all academic programmes being in offer in the field of renewable energy, actual market demands, trends and needs as well government policies and regulations. JUST is leading this study, in partnership with PSUT and Hashemite University. | Virtual Learning Environment and Remote Labs | | A team from PSUT and Hashemite University will visit UNED, Spain in the period 18-22 February 2013 in order to select, design and install a Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) and 4 renewable energy remote labs in Jordanian universities. |

Kick-off Meeting11/14/2012The kick-off meeting of MUREE was held in Princess Sumaya University for Technology, grant holder, in the period 14-15 November 2012. Representatives of all 12 partners have attended the meeting and a series of decisions have been made including a road of the project for the first year of its lifetime. Tempus Project Representatives Meeting11/26/2012Professor Abdallah Al-Zoubi, project manager, Princess Sumaya University for Technology, and Dr Katiuscia Cipri, Sapienza University of Rome, Italy attended the annual Tempus conference held in Brussels in the period 26-27 November 2012, to have a closer look at Tempus guidelines and instructions on administrative and financial management of projects.
