Third MAPEC Meeting ( StC & TSC )

The third StC & TSC MAPEC meeting under the theme "Master Program for Environmental Engineering and Climate Change" was held at the German Jordanian University on 25-26 Feb, 2013, as it hosted some 30 professors from Jordan, Syria, Germany, Austria and Portugal. The first day has started with a special welcoming speech by the Dean of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, Prof. Dr. Nabil Ayoub at GJU. Where he welcomed the attendees who traveled far and wide to share their experience. From her turn Dr. Muna Hindeyeh, The Project Coordinator at GJU, welcomed all of the guests, Dr. Muna Hindiyeh, MAPEC Coordinator at GJU, traced the roots of the biggest and longest environmental challenges that face the planet worldwide. She further added that MAPEC programs and GJU will focus on the fundamental Engineering and applied sciences disciplines for the 21st Century. Finally General MAPEC Project Coordinator Prof. Ahmad Al-Salaymeh from The University of Jordan, welcomed all of the partners, and expressed his happiness to meet all partners and especially Syrian partners. Furthermore, he gave an elaborate briefing on the first two meetings held at the University of Jordan and TUHH consecutively, and carried on with the study plan accreditation for the third meeting. In accordance with Tempus project, around 50 K Euros will be allocated for each all Jordanian and Syrian Partners to purchase laboratory equipments and other supplies pertaining to MAPEC program. This step will guarantee the program's success and positive accomplishments in the future. In order to reach a consensus on the program, the meetings ended with a group debate negotiating the study plan accreditation, tutorials, and teaching materials. Inspired by the success of the conference, all of the representatives expressed their pride and appreciation for the hard-work of all included parties. It’s worth to mention that next MAPEC steering committee meeting will be held in Innsbruck University ( Austria ) on 30 June– 4 July, 2013.
