German Jordanian University –Jordan
GJU is a public university located in Madaba. It was founded in 2005, in accordance with a Memorandum of Understanding reached between the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Jordan, and the Federal Ministry of Education and Research of Germany. In August 2004, a founding committee had taken up its activities in Jordan. The committee was in close cooperation with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. At the same time, the German planning office opened at the University of Magdeburg-Stendal in close cooperation with the Federal Ministry of Education and Research BMBF and the German Academic Exchange Services DAAD, which is funding the university project for a period of four years. GJU has a program of Water and Environmental Engineering and their Management branches into two streams of specialties. The first stream is referred to as Water Engineering and management while the second stream is referred to as Environmental Engineering and management.

Prof . Nabil Ayoub

Born 1949. Married with three children. Ph.D. in theoretical nuclear physics, from the American University of Beirut in 1978. Professor of Physics since February 1992, at Department of Physics/Yarmouk University. Currently Dean of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research/German Jordanian University. Research interests are in Nuclear Physics, Fine Particle Magnetism both theory & experimental, Superconductivity, and Applications of Fractional Calculus. Co-author of two university level books and over sixty publications in international journals. Fulbright Award to UCSD-California 1989-1990. Fulbright Award to University of Texas at Austin 1996. Associate Member of the International Center for Theoretical Physics, Trieste, Italy, 1991-1996. Scopus Award for outstanding research publications 2009. Member of the committee of Judges for ISEF in Jordan. Member of the Supervisory Committee for the textbooks at the high school level in Jordan, formed by the Minister of Education from 1992-2002. Supervisor of over forty graduate students’ theses in Physics for the last 30 years. Two research grants awarded by the prestigious DFG (German Research Foundation), from 1994-1998 for the amount of 108,670 DM (hundred eight thousands and six hundred seventy DM), to work on magnetic liquids.

A capable law advocate with particular expertise in environmental law, with a Master’s degree in Private Law. She started her career in 1998 when she joined “Bait Almashoura Alkanuni” where she worked on a large spectrum of clients in different sectors.

 

It was in 2009 that she specialized in the area of environment law as opportunities rose in several positions such as:
      Legal Consultant in the committee for rehabilitation of the Zarqa' river basin committee of "IUCN
      Main arbitrator at environmental moot court competition in 2009 by USAID and the Ministry of Justice.
      Member in the "Training and Continuous Education Committee"
In 2010 she became a Legal Consultant for the “Jordanian Environmental Association” where she made a full legal and environmental case and prepared a detailed legal study on the nuclear laws in Jordan.
Israa was brought on board as a lead lecturer at the Middle East University of Jordan in 2010. After one year only she became an Organizer and lecturer for the environmental crimes for judges and prosecutors, in cooperation with UNDP 2011. Afterward she was the team leader and the environmental legal expert of the “Tobacco Control Project” and the legal key expert of Greater Amman Municipality’s Waste Management Project.
Today, Israa Joined Arcan Law Firm to work on different environmental businesses which need help in leading environment data and support. Holding experience on different local and regional environmental projects from very different perspectives she will integrate this experience into her new firm.  Her past experience and knowledge in such a rare field will help her as an environmental lawyer to use her legal skills to develop policies and  engage in litigation that help prevent environmental damage.

      Member in the Continuous Learning and Tanning Committee in the Jordanian Bar Association since 2009.
      Member of the Royal Society for the protection of nature.
