UJ to Launch Master's program in Environmental Engineering and Climate Change next September

​Prof. Ekhleif Tarawneh, President University of Jordan examined with Tempus Project Representatives aspects of joint academic and scientific cooperation. The two looked at possible ways of cooperation, especially the development of joint academic programs and student exchange in a number of European countries, such as Austria, Portugal and Germany. The two sides discussed significant developments on the Master's program in Environmental Engineering and Climate Change, which to be launched by UJ in coordination with the Hashemite University and the German Jordanian University next September. From his part, Tarawneh welcomed the project, stressing the University's support for all programs that aims to contribute to upgrading education at UJ and other universities. Tarawneh noted to the possibility of establishing other academic programs responsive to labor market demanded and funded by the European Union, proposing a doctoral program in business. Rosen Mac, Head of Middle East projects at the European Union, confirmed that choosing the University of Jordan to coordinate this project, which is being funded with more than one million euros, comes due to its academic and scientific reputation among local, Arab and international universities. Dr Ahmed Salaymeh, Director of Water, Energy and Environment Center and Project Manager referred to a study plan of the program carried out by members of the project team in accordance with the requirements of the labor market. Some program laboratories have been equipped and a number of visual communication halls with the European Union have been setup to ensure the workflow efficiency, said Salaymeh, noting that some of the enrolled students in the program will be send to a number of European universities to conduct thesis research related to the environment and climate variables. The meeting was attended by the Director of the Tempus Office in Jordan, Dr. Ahmed Abu Hija, and Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies at the German Jordanian University Dr. Nabil Ayoub, Dean of the Institute of Earth Sciences at the Hashemite University Dr. Eid Tarazi and the Director of the Office of International Relations at UJ, Dr. Rami Ali.
